About FWD

In 2006, three untimely occurrences, eventually, led to my giving up a career which I had enjoyed. My mother (just 5 years after my father) passed away. My eyesight had deteriorated to such an extent that I could not contemplate a return to teaching. Finally, a serious illness kept me in hospital for several weeks, leaving me quite debilitated for several months. As I recovered, I was fortunate enough to be given some office experience, which was valuable in restoring my self-confidence - but, with the world-wide recession, what a time to start looking for a new career!

In late 2008, I was invited to join a bowls club, for people (in and around the Medway Towns, in Kent) with impaired vision. Discovering that I had gained sufficient physical stamina to manage this gentle pastime, I became a keen member of RBBG. Indeed, I became so interested that I set up a website for the group - learning the skills of web design as I went.

Then, at a random meeting, I met an artist who happened to be looking for someone to create a website to display her work. I was keen to take up the challenge and, as I developed an understanding of Valerie's inspired paintings, I found the design of her website an invigorating experience. Now, as I have passed it over to her control, I am delighted that it has met with her approval.

Now, it appears that there are others, out there, who are keen on having their own websites, but would like someone (like me), to create it for them - and I am pleased to offer my services.   If, however, you would be interested in something other than web design, then what about a wedding dress, designed by Evelina Farley - or a mural, created by Becci. To see some of the possible creations available, click here: Other Services

FARLEY WEBSITE DESIGN

For several years - more or less 35 - I taught in Kent primary schools. It was a great job, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was, however, a demanding career - nothing else mattered - and there were many sacrifices. I never had time to think about anything, other than teaching & learning, planning & preparing, resources & policies ... Education, Education, Education - I shall not go on.

My wife, Evelina, was also a teacher, in secondary education - where she specialized in Art. Her talent was - and still is abundant and wide-ranging! (There are some examples of her versatility, on this website, but she will shortly be hosting her own site). When she stopped work, to bring up our two daughters, Becci and Emma, it was not possible for her to practise much of the art she had enjoyed. On returning to the classroom, it was as a supply teacher - which is rarely a rewarding branch of the profession. Now, working in retail, she has more time for her artistic skills to flourish, anew.

Most of the time, nowadays, I enjoy being at home. Both Evelina and I have much more time to live the present and look forward to the future. I enjoy music, cooking for family and friends - and, of course, I tinker around on the PC.

Becci has had experience, including catering and management, care work and education. She has talent in various art forms, especially in music, recently joining a thriving musical drama group, in the Medway Towns, Kent. Their latest production was the highly successful stage version of Beauty and the Beast.

Emma has appeared in or directed plays, as a member of a Sheffield drama group. She has featured in three Sheffield-based Indie-Rock bands, for which she was a lead vocalist and keyboard player. Emma's recent wedding, to Nick Portus, is featured on this website (click here).
